Anné and Herman’s wedding was beyond stunning! The decor and flowers where so rich and dense with deep, beautiful colours. Their friends and family really pulled together to make this happen – wow, what a talented group of people! Excellence and attention to detail were evident in every small touch, and it was significant to see just how special a wedding can be when a family collaborates. The food was also done by a friend of theirs and the waiters were the staff from her parents’ guest farm, Skeiding. The lounge furniture on the big porch was also from their farm. Her mom made their carrot and macaron wedding cake and guests indulged in this delectable creation. The two things that had such a lasting impression on me, were the closeness of their family and friends and their ability to have so much fun together!
The wedding took place at Joubertsdal, situated outside the town of Swellendam. The view of the Langeberg mountains will make you pause for a few seconds as you take it all in. A few other highlights were the stylish gin and sangria bar with dry ice steaming from two gigantic glass goblets, the lively marimba band, sabrage at the dinner speeches and the massive cheese table that appeared by the dance floor later in the evening.
Some of Anné’s clever little wedding hacks were to split the speeches into two sets; one during canapés and the other just before dinner. She also repurposed many of the elements, like the flowers in the chapel which were later positioned on the porch steps, and the under plates which were later used to plate the dessert on. For confetti, guests were handed wooden rods with long ribbons that they could wave as opposed to rose petals. I thought this was such an original idea, and no cleaning was required afterwards!
Anné & Herman, it was a delight to be part of your wedding day. Anné, you are a ray of sunshine! I am grateful to have been your work colleague for about 2 years and to have had the privilege of doing your on-the-day coordination.
